Heartfelt thanks

A very big thank you to Patty for the lovely chart she gifted me with. Patty is a talented designer and I just adore her charts! I'm starting to kit this one up now.
I'm also finishing up my next RAK which I hope to mail out by next week.

My Introduction

Hello all,

My name is Linda O. And I reside in the tourist town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

I am a single mom of 4 children (3 sons- 25,23,19 and 1 daughter 15) and 4 pets (3 cats and 1 dog).  I was married for 21 years and have been divorced for 4.   I am now with a wonderful man for past 1.5 years and very content.

I am also a breast cancer survivor of 2 years now from stage 3a breast cancer.

I worked for 21 years as a public school teacher teaching orchestra.  I taught 4th - 8th graders how to play violin, viola, cello, and bass.  Due to the current economic situation last June my job was eliminated. :(

I am obsessed and love all things cross stitching.  I began the art in early 20s and now due to my job situation have been doing a lot of it.  I recently attended my first cross stitching retreat and also have joined several exchanges and have even started one of my own.

I am excited to be a part of this group!!!

Hi everyone. I realize I forgot to write an introduction. My name is Sarah Marchuk and I love cross stitch. I am happily married to my husband, Jim. And we have two cats..Pumpkin, and Miss Kitty. We also have a German Shepherd mix named Lila who is my service dog. I love making new friends and sending and receiving stitchy stuff in the mail. I'm 37 years old and I love to stitch band samplers, samplers, and I would love to try some ccn , lhn, or scarlet letter. I also love Marjolein bastin. I also am very low on evenweave fabric. I enjoy stitching with overdyed threads and one of these days I would love to get a kit from Yiota's cross stitch designs. I love how she packs the kits with valdini floss already wound on the bobbin. She has one of a German shepherd I want to get sometime. I'm so excited to be in this group and look forward to having a lot of fun:-)

Happy Valentine Wishes.

New member

Hi everyone
I am also new to this group and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Melanie and I am 53 years old and live in the North of England.
I have been stitching, sewing and knitting for as long as I can remember and in my adult life have acquired an enormous amount of stash and goodies that will " come in useful" one day. I am lucky to have my own workroom where I can spend hours doing machine embroidery and sewing but will spend my evenings doing my cross stitch downstairs with DH in front of the television. I work during the week but have just reduced to 4 days, of my own choosing so I can now spend an extra day stitching!
I have been reading this blog for some time and am so inspired by the work that is completed and the kindness shared with one another. I love to create something that will bring joy to someone else and this looks like the place for it to be appreciated, you all seem to have such fun.
Thank you for letting me be a member and I look forward to joining in with you very soon.

I will put a wish list on my blog when I update at weekend, however I love all Lizzie Kate, Little House Needleworks and Country Cottage Needleworks charts. I too enjoy making ornaments all the year round and little pillows. I love anything winter and Christmas related and have to work hard at stitching other things so this years plan is to make small's that are suitable for display at other times in the year. I love ribbon, cotton lace, charms, beads and cotton fabric, I have an enormous stash of FQ's all organised into pretty colours and enough threads to last a lifetime.

I look forward to getting to know you all and creating some tokens of joy to share with you.

Hello to all of You.

Hello, I'm Deborah, I have just become a member, I am evolving calmly into my middle-aged self, (57) the mother of one grown son, I am a life long letter writer, an avid reader and book lover. My needlework skills are mostly self taught, however my fondest memory was learning to hand sew from my grandmother which led me to a life long interest in sewing and other forms of needlework. I learned to hand sew as a child and continued on from there taking sewing classes in High School.

I learned to crochet at 13 and I still love it. I look back to the days when on the fringes of being a budding flower child I started to hand embroider and string love bead which lead me to beading and jewelry crafting, I collect vintage jewelry, always looking for the perfect piece of old jewelry I can remake into something unique. I do some paper crafting.

I love old buttons, memories of playing with my grandmother's button tins come to mind whenever I see a jar or tin of buttons at a flea market or antique shop. I love vintage fabrics and hand embroidered linens, and try not to pass up looking through stacks of old handkerchiefs.

This year I am determined to finally stop waiting and start a large cross stitch pattern, I love Joan Elliot's designs have gone out of my way and spent far too much money to let the pattern books and supplies just wait for me to grow confident.

Outside of needle crafting, I am an avid reader and never without a book. I have a small garden that I love and hate relationship with. I enjoy the outdoors and start each day with a walk. I strive to keep a healthy balance of body mind and spirit most times the body is willing but the mind has its own agenda.

I look forward to getting to know all of you through this blog site with all it has to offer.
I will post my wish list in a few days.

DOES ANYONE LIKE.......

Joan Elliott charts???? I have a few to give away, I have to admit they are only from magazines (UK) but have a nice colour photo with them. I didn't want to put them in a RAK as not everyone likes her work, if anyones interested e mail me and I can let you know which ones I have.
Will be sorting out a couple of RAKs shortly just have to finish an exchange I'm in first.
Eileen

So Much Kindness.......

I feel so blessed :)  I found 2 more parcels waiting for me in my mailbox this morning!  I am so grateful to you all not only for the kindness that you are sharing with me but all the kindness that is being shared within this group!  It's simply awesome!

The one above is from Anne.  I absolutely love everything but especially love the Snow Pillow.  I will put the extras to good use with my finishing this year.  I'm going to be adding some of the bells to my ornaments too!  Thank you again Anne for your kindness and for your friendship :)

June sent me this Winne the Pooh book :)  I absolutely love it and would you believe that I don't have it too!  I haven't stitched a Disney project in a few years but I still have kept all of my old books/kits as I adore looking through them.  Thank you again June for picking me for this and for the awesome postcard.  I love postcards too and the Thatch Cottage is one of my favorite things from England, they are just so beautiful to look at, although I have heard they are a nightmare to live in!

I will be sending out some RAK's next month.  I've already spent just over $50.00 on postage this month which is waaaay too much!  Crazy how much postage is now!

Thank you again Anne and June!

Mar Bek Chart Winners

Well, it had been a busy week for me and I nearly forgot to pull the names for the Mar Bek charts until this morning! So without further ado, I chose McKenna for the Baroque Angel and Cucki for the Windermere Angel chart.  Since there were only three ladies who entered, I will be sending something to Lesleyanne Smith as well!

Have a lovely day everyone!!

Thank you Grace and a Question

I am sorry I havn't been commenting much on posts..I have been reading them all and wow: so many lovely things being done in our stitching world.

Firstly I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Grace.  I had no idea an RAK was coming my way so was really suprised when a non-bill item of post arrived.

Inside were three beautiful peices of fabric: I think they are from the 'pink ribbon' collection.  Some of you may know I have had a skirmish with breast cancer and am training to walk to raise money for cancer research.  Part of this has involved me making things to exchange for sponsorship.

The photo isnt very good, sorry.
There also some amazing charms.  I am so greatful as my fabric stock is diminishing fast, and I want to make something really special with this to help raise funds.
Grace, you are amazing.  Thank you so much xx  It will really help.

Now, a wee question: I have been learning to sew etc and I wonder if people mind non-cross stitch RAK gifts which are still home made?  I wasn't sure so thought I had better check xx

Have a good week everyone xxx and again, Grace. Thank you so much.

Would any one like...

Have you ever starting something and then just completely lost any and all interest?  I was so excited when I first saw this chart, bought all my supplies and started stithching...I was even going to change the word friendship to familiy...
I just wasn't enjoying the fabric, how it felt in my hands.  I put it down thinking that one day I might give it another look, but nope, that's not happening...
So....I'd like to offer it to one of you.  You can have the whole package.  The chart, fabric, threads, even the stitches I already put in place.  It's yours to do with what you wish ~ continue my stitches, start your own (there is plenty of fabric), change colors ~ whatever your heart chooses.
Just leave a comment here if you are interested.  If there is more than one, I'll draw a name sometime next week and get it off to the lucky person!
The fabric is 30ct WDW Putty and the threads are CC English Ivy.

Thank you Dawn!

Have you ever had one of those weeks and then you go to your mail~box to find just the pick-me-up you need?
I was more than thrilled to have met Dawn through an exchange.  We found that we had attended the same university and even graduated in the same year!  If only we had met back then, we would have been stitching friends for a long time ~ but we have fast become email friends, and who knows, one day, perhaps we can arrange a meeting.
Anyway, I love what she sent to me!  Thanks so much Dawn!!
Oops....sorry, can't get the picture to flip!
I should be getting some goodies together in the next few weeks to surprise a few of you.  So, keep stalking, I mean watching, your mail!
